Meng-Chan Yu is a visual artist specializing in materials research and integrating their properties with artistic concepts. She began her Fine Arts studies in Taiwan and further developed her conceptual and interdisciplinary skills in Germany and Finland. Guided by her background as a ceramic artist, she works with natural materials such as clay and soil. In recent years, she has begun to search for her materials in nature and design experiments to showcase the most unique quality of each material.
Her concept embodies themes related to nature, ecology, and the environment. By working as an artist-in-residence, she travels around the world to collect narratives for studying the man-nature relationship from different perspectives.
Yu’s work has been featured in prominent international exhibitions, including the XV International Biennial of Ceramics in Manises (ES), Talente (Munich, DE), and the Kobe Biennale (JP). She has also exhibited at the Dutch Design Week. She has been selected as an artist-in-residence in Germany, Sweden, Taiwan, and the Netherlands.
Meng-Chan Yu currently lives and works in Kiel, Germany.
